Register for the Fall 2026 Youth Stringband Program

It is time to register for the Fall 2026 Handmade Youth Stringband Program! The semester will start on Wednesday, August 26th and run through December 9th (skipping November 25th for Thanksgiving).

Please use the form below to register for the program. After submitting your form, you will receive an email with further instructions about updating your profile in our student registration system and payment options.

Advanced Classes (happening during regular Wednesday Stringband sessions)*

We offer classes for students over the age of 10 and playing at an advanced level to meet at the Floyd Country Store/Handmade House campus for a fast paced/focused learning environment. Is your child ready and interested in attending these Advanced sessions? Please answer the questions below and we will follow-up with you to discuss their placement.

Appalachian Enrichment Activities

All students will engage in Appalachian Enrichment activities alongside their instrument and jam sessions. If your child attends the Advanced Class, this enrichment will happen within their musical classes. For students who will attend classes at the EcoVillage, this session will either focus specifically on Appalachian music, dance, and singing, OR on arts & outdoor activities (crafts, stories, games, and nature exploration).

Tuition Information

Full tuition is $300 per student. We also offer two reduced tuition prices: $250 or $200 per student. We are happy to discuss payment plans, and have scholarships available for those that need assistance to participate. No one will be turned away due to lack of funds!! Policy & Procedure Agreements

Illness Policy*

In the event that the child becomes ill, Handmade Music School agrees to notify the parent/guardian, and the parent/guardian agrees to pick up the child as soon as possible.

Medical Emergency Policy*

In the event of a medical emergency, the parent/guardian authorizes the Handmade Music School to obtain immediate medical attention for the child if the parent/guardian is unavailable or cannot be reached unless a written medical statement is provided with an objection to such care on religious or other grounds.

Cancelation Policy*

I understand that if I cancel my registration less than two weeks (14 days) before the start of the program, only 50% of the registration fee will be refunded. Further, I understand that if I cancel my registration after 48 hours prior to the beginning of the semester, no refunds of exchanges will be given. (*In case of emergency, refund policy can be discussed with Handmade Music School faculty).

Media Agreement*

I understand that my child may be photographed or filmed during Handmade Music School activities, and give HMS permission to use these photos for school-related publications and promotions, both on paper and online, including, but not limited to: grant applications, flyers, and social media. We will never include personal names or other identifying information without your additional permission.
