We’re Participating in the 2025 NRV GiveLocal Fundraiser!

The Handmade Music School is excited to announce that we are taking part in the 12th annual NRV GiveLocal fundraising campaign. Each year in June, our community comes together for 24 hours of giving to support the amazing work of nonprofits around our region. This year, the event will be held from noon on Wednesday, June 25 to noon on Thursday, June 26.

We hope you will consider supporting the Handmade Music School as we strive to cultivate and strengthen community through experiences in music, dance, art, and food rooted in our Appalachian traditions.

This year, we hope to raise $25,000 to support our programing, general operating costs, and Share the Music Scholarship. These funds will help support our mission – and help us keep the lights on! It costs $754 a day to run the Handmade Music School, and serve the students of all ages who attend our private lessons, workshops, summer camps, and group classes like the Youth Stringband Program. These funds support the amazing local musicians and dancers who teach our classes, the students who learn through our programs, and our new official location: the Handmade House, located at 110 Talley’s Alley in Floyd Virginia. Stop by and visit sometime, and help us raise awareness and funds for our work by saving the date and donating online starting noon on Wednesday, June 25.

You can support the Handmade Music School in this fundraiser in several different ways. If you are able, the early giving period for the event will open on June 1, and direct donations between June 1 and noon on June 26th are welcome. Additionally, if you prefer to give by check or cash, we can accept those donations as well between June 1 and noon on June 26th. Just reply to this email for details.

We look forward to seeing what we can do together this year!
