Youth Rhythm Workshop with Mac Traynham – The “Mac Attack!”

Join us at the Floyd Country Store on August 6, 2025 from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm for a Youth Music Workshop with Mac Traynham. Cost is $20.

Mac Traynham will offer a workshop called “Rhythm Obstacle Course with Mac Traynham (secrets of the MAC ATTACK!!)” in our Youth Summer Music Workshop series. This workshop is designed for young musicians between ages 8 to 14. This workshop is open to player of all skill levels and instruments.

This course will involve learning how to LISTEN to OLD-TIME MUSIC in a way to be focusing on THE BEAT. Recordings will be played that have strong players from the OLD TIMES who were oriented towards THE BEAT in their movement to KEEP TIME so well that others can feel it. Several stations will be set up with FUN tools and challenges to react to the MUSIC which has influenced Mac’s approach to getting the most out of his instruments. Demonstrations of each station’s challenge will show HOW to FEEL the LIFE in the music. THE GOAL is that as you practice playing DANCE tunes that anticipate the beat and make a FLATFOOT dancer HAPPY.
